Watching the World Go By is 9 minutes and 45 seconds split into 3 parts. The song focuses on specific instruments and sounds that are the key elements throughout: Keys, Bells, Synth, Drums and Vocals. This song was recorded and produced while I was sick and in quarantine late September.

“Watchin’…” is a glitch/swing-hop portion that builds up fast and dives right into heavy electronic synths going through many phases. This part of the song encapsulates my rage/sickness/deep thoughts while quarantined with the virus in September.

Leading into “The World” which is a lot softer, I let the melodic instruments shine a bit more. Along with my voice and the phrase “I’m watching the world go by (and around me)”. While stuck at home, I figured I was literally watching as the world went by with almost no way of being a part of it. There is a calmness to that, as well as a fear of missing out.

“Go By” is an instrumental, half-time, Drum N Bass groove that expresses the music, specifically as it carried me through my journey. It’s a meditative and relaxed instance of the song where I break apart from my thoughts and feelings, while learning to be in the moment and deal with the situation at hand. The tune builds with intensity to finally let it all go in peace, serenity and stillness. I am blessed for my health and my passion.
